I don't think that the mystery of what happened to Rob's friends was really resolved which is actually quite brave of the author I think - to leave all those loose ends.
As for Cassie, man Rob was a real jerk to her. I thik that we only get a clue about how traumatised she was, not by the case, but by the breakdown of her relationship with Rob in the subtext. Things like the fact that she had deleted Rob's phone number from her phone completely, and that she never spoke to him. I didn't think it was the case itself at all. I would have liked to see Rob in the next book for a cameo at least.
