I was wondering where that earlier recording had come from, because I couldn't figure out why she'd remained anonymous till now. I see on your blog you mentioned it was recorded at a charity event, which explains it!

It has some lovely color and black & white illustrations, a wondeful introduction and the full poem of Evangeline. Of course I bought because of Carter's and my trip to Nova Scotia and all that we saw and learned about Accadia when we were in Nova Scotia especially in Annapolis Royal. I had no idea at the time that you would be naming your daughter Evangeline or that it was sentimental for both you and your husband. Carter said he thought that they had two of these books. AND I will definitely look when we get back for the next sale. But is ocurred to me that since the publisher is in Halifax that maybe it is a frequently purchased book as a souvenir? I would love for you to see it and to have a copy for your new little angel. Thank you for sharing the pictures with us. She is just lovely. Trudy

In fact, Gates said he wants to meet the soldier and shake his hand the next time he visits Afghanistan. "Any soldier who goes into battle against the Taliban in pink boxers and flip-flops has a special kind of courage," Gates said in remarks prepared for a speech in New York. "I can only wonder about the impact on the Taliban. Just imagine seeing that: a guy in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in his cross-hairs. Posts: 618 06/27/09 04:20 PM	Were you as surprised as I was over Michael Jackson's death? I saw Farah Fawcett's death coming, and after all she'd been through, I saw that as a blessing for her. And then there was David Carradine's odd circumstance... There's a lot of strangeness surrounding the MJ one. But then again, his whole adult life has been strange! I do have some favorites by him, though. The only dances I know how to do are the Hustle and the Cha Cha, but when I actually get up off my keester and do any exercising, "Thriller", "Shake Your Body", and "Bad" go really well with the Hustle steps!

The man was extremely talented, but very troubled. Posts: 1260 07/01/09 11:44 PM	I have to admit that I'm a bit annoyed at the outpouring of grief etc... following MJ's death. He was viewed as not much less than a pedophile for the past how many years (he even moved to Saudi Arabia or Dubai or wherever) so I think many people are confused about how they feel regarding his death. The media basically crucified him and now they are capitalizing on his death. He was the butt of a lot of jokes for a lot of years. I hope he finds peace now wherever he is. I feel sorry for his 3 kids, that's for sure.

All the crying and carrying on over them just baffles me. I've never understood the whole Elvis Presley "grieving" thing either (people still visiting Graceland, sobbing over his grave, etc.), and I would imagine Michael Jackson's situation will wind up being about the same on the "oddness" meter. I hope he wasn't really a pedophile for his and other people's children's sakes, but there was a lot of talk surrounding his behavior around young boys, that's for sure. I sometimes wonder, though, if Michael Jackson, having not had a real childhood of any kind, wasn't thinking of them as the playmates he didn't have when he was a kid? Maybe that kind of explains the whole "Neverland" weirdness, too? I could be giving him too much benefit of the doubt, though, but who knows what really goes on with these people. The whole "celebrity worship" thing bothers the heck out of me in general.

Soldier who fought in pink boxers home for 4th FORT WORTH, Texas - The soldier who was photographed fighting the Taliban in his boxer shorts says he's glad to be back home in Texas after his yearlong deployment to Afghanistan - especially on the Fourth of July. Specialist Zachary Boyd says he initially thought he'd get in trouble after an Associated Press photo showed him with other soldiers behind sandbags - while wearing his pink boxers and flip-flops, plus his helmet and bulletproof vest. The Fort Worth soldier said he had jumped up from a nap when his unit came under fire and didn't want to waste time putting on his uniform. But Boyd has been praised for his courage. And now that he's home in Fort Worth he says his boxers will be displayed in the 1st Infantry Division museum at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Posts: 1339 07/06/09 09:22 AM	I wanted to share with everyone and ask, once again, for your prayers and positive energies to be directed toward Stanton. He had a seizure late on July 4th and after running a battery of tests the Drs have discovered new cancer on his temporal lobe and in a couple of other places. They put him on anti-seizure meds and will probably resume a more aggressive form of chemo. We were so hopeful that he could have a good summer of fun and healing but instead we are back in major treatment mode. He's been in conscious sedation for the past couple of days due to the seizure--they want his body to rest. We know he is a very high risk case but it's hard to think about him having to endure more of the miserable side effects and treatments. My biggest fear at this point is that he will go through one crisis after another while his body and spirit grow weaker. I hope I'm wrong and that we can conquer this battle and buy him some time. We are in prayer mode on my side of the world too as my father was admitted to emergency last night. He is in very poor health but we are hopeful that he will pull through.

With chemistry being horrendous right up until the end of June and the most recent issues with Dad I am afraid that I just haven't done a whole lot of reading lately. Anne I will pray for Stanton as well as for courage and strength for all of those that are going though this with him. May he fight the good fight and come out the winner As for everyone else....... HELLO!! I am so sorry that I haven't been by. I spend a lot of time with my dad (even before his recent issues) and unfortunately the rest of my time is generally spent on chemistry, or complaining about chemistry!!!! I hope all is well in your worlds. Lee keeps me updated on some things going on here, although she mostly gives me the guilt trip......hehehe no, not really. she understands! What is everyone currently reading?? Whether it is for the club or just for fun I would love to hear about it. As Lee has mentioned I tend towards a certain genre but I am always willing to try out new authors and genres and it helps to get the opinions of others!!!! Take care all. Hopefully I won't be gone so long until the next time........... K
