Anyway, August Rush was a great role for Rhys-Meyers, in my opinion, and changed how I felt about his acting! Didn't Keri Russell have a TV series a few years ago? She really is one of the lovlier actresses around these days. I haven't seen August Rush or Bedtime Stories, but I know who she is.

Posts: 1260 06/23/09 07:40 PM	I thought August Rush was just magical. What an awesome love story. Keri Russell was in Felicity for many years. Did you ever watch it? I watched it way back when. I love how normal she seems and she is ALWAYS well dressed in real life. Lots of class! I haven't seen Waitress but I heard it's excellent! I'll have to get on that. Hubby and I are about to curl up with Order of the Pheonix!! :) Both kids are in bed by 8pm! Emerson is such a great sleeper. I'm going to be so sad when DH goes back to work in September. We've had so much fun! We leave for B.C on Sunday for 11 days (to find a house) and then head to Manitoba for a week to visit his parents. Can't wait!

Posts: 1339 06/28/09 02:05 PM	I just watched Inkheart. Man, they completely changed the story--but I still enjoyed it because I love Brendan Fraser and Helen Mirrin makes a perfect Aunt Elinor. She just didn't have a big enough part in the movie. Now I'm even more anxious to find a window of opportunity to read Inkspell. I also have to go look to see if it is being made into a movie. I want to see "Inkheart", but Netflix has it as a "very long wait" right now. Did you manage to get it early from Netflix? I should have jumped on it quicker than I did, I guess. I sometimes forget about movies I want to see, and then when I get around to adding it to my queue, others have jumped on it before I did and I wind up having to wait. My next arrivals are "The Shield, Season 7, Disk 4" (I somehow missed Season 7, so I've been watching the DVD's instead), "Australia", and "This American Life" (which I've never heard of, but the story sounds good).

Posts: 1339 06/28/09 06:35 PM	I watched Inkheart on Pay-per-view. Don't feel bad for getting the seasons out of order; I somehow got disk 4 of Charles Dickens' Little Dorrit. Now the question is whether to send it back or just keep rotating the other two until I catch up to it. I must have checked the wrong box at some point. lol! Posts: 284 06/29/09 08:53 PM	I finally saw Mama Mia on Netflix. That is a fun one. I also liked Waitress. Note just a cute movie but really different. One of the actresses died in the last year. The actors and actresses were all SO good. Kerri Russell was excellent. I also liked her TV series - loved her hair. I just got Bejamin Button from Netflix. I will try to watch it sometime this week. Trudy

I watched Inkheart on Pay-per-view night before last since I couldn't wait to see what they did with the book. It came nowhere near to being how much I liked the book, and some parts were just...well...not even in the book, at least not that I recalled. I agree Helen Mirren was great as Aunt Elinor. Not as crazy about the rest of the cast, except for the actor who played the part of Dustfinger, whom I thought was good. But as I said, I wasn't blown away by the movie at all and am surprised Cornelia Funke let the movie get so "off" from the book. But a buck is a buck, I guess! ha ha As far as me getting The Shield DVDs out of order, I'd already gotten the first 3 of the set of 4 from Netflix, but since I'm on the 3-at-a-time plan, I hadn't gotten the 4th one yet. I just have to see how it all winds up in the end of what became a really complex story after some dirty dealings by detective members of what they call the Strike Team at the police precinct. It's a mess! ha ha

Posts: 618 07/06/09 11:11 AM	I watched "Australia" last night and loved it! I don't think it did very well at the box office, but can't for the life of me figure out why. The cinematography alone is reason enough to watch it. What a spectacularly beautiful place! And the little boy who plays the role of the "creamy" (what they called kids back then who had both a black and a white parent), was such a cutie, and such a scene stealer, he just made the movie all that much more enjoyable. And then there was Hugh Jackman shirtless...(sigh, I felt my old lady lecherous side coming out! ) Oh yeah, Nicole Kidman was good, too!

It's a bit over 2.5 hours long, but worth every minute. Just a beautiful film. IMO. Another of those movies that makes you feel that this is the reason we like watching them so much, at least that's the way I felt. I read a review by Roger Ebert who felt the same way, too, after he'd seen it. Nicole Kidman is a total hoot at first as the very ladylike Lady Ashley who very soon turns into one heck of a rootin' tootin' cattle drivin' "Mrs. Boss", as the Aboriginals come to call her. I might even buy this one!

Posts: 1260 07/16/09 01:35 PM	I am watching He's Just Not that Into You tonight! I've seen a bit of it already and I really enjoyed it (on my ipod on the plane yesterday). I wish the movie version was the book:) Love Justin Long's character the best! My husband watched Australia and he really didn't like it. I guess he's just not that into Hugh Jackman. lol.
